The face plate ring has a 83mm outside diameter and has a dovetail shaped inside which can be gripped by using the standard dovetail jaws fitted to the Nexus3 chuck. The face plate ring has 8 countersunk screw holes and is used instead of a threaded face plate so that you do not have to remove the chuck from the lathe to mount a bowl blank.
